WAIKOLOA, Hawai`i—UH Hilo's Sandra Dafinescu was a double winner but UC San Diego won overall on Saturday in women's tennis action at the Fairmont Orchid.
Dafincescu teamed with
Gabriela Aguilar Lawlor at No. 3 doubles for a 6-4 win, and was knotted up at No. 2 singles with Sophie Pearson (5-5) when Pearson went down with an injury and had to default.
Aguilar Lawlor was wrapped up in a second set tiebreaker in singles when the match was halted.
Marina Colvee dropped a first set tiebreaker and was in the second set when the match was clinched.
The Vulcans will take on No. 8 ranked Hawaii Pacific on Sunday morning (8 a.m.) at the Fairmont Orchid.
