Coming in at a tie for 19th is the women's golf teams' performance on the first day of their own Dennis Rose Intercollegiate. In particular, the record-breaking play of sophomore
Kaelyn Uchida. In the three-day tournament at the Waikoloa Beach Course, Uchida helped get the Vulcans off to a good start with a scorching round of 70 on the par-70 course to sit in the top spot on the leader board. The 70 is the lowest score in the UH HIlo women's golf record book, and is second all-time for lowest score to par (even). Uchida would fall off that pace over the next couple of days, but for one day at least she led all comers in a stellar field at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.
