'AIEA, Hawai'i – The men's golf team competed in the Hawai'i Triangular on Tuesday alongside Chaminade and HPU. The Hawai'i Triangular included two rounds of 18 holes, totaling 36 holes for the day at the Pearl Country Club.

The first 18 holes weren't too kind to the Vulcans. The majority of the team was seven over par and had some work to do in round two. Keith Ng finished the first round at par (72), three strokes away from HPU's leader Kelii Dudoit. Dustin Franko was tied for fourth at four swings over par.

After lunch, the Red and Black found a new gear and nearly surpassed HPU, but were just one shot short. The final team results were HPU (595), UH Hilo (596) and Chaminade (642). 

Ng was crowned the co-champion of the Hawai'i Triangular with HPU's Kelii Dudoit. Ng went two under par in his second round resulting in his final score 72-70. Ng has won three out of the four tournaments that he has participated in as a Vulcan, a rare and impressive feat. Ng is now tied with four other Vulcans who have won three tournaments in their entire careers including Nick Mason, James Hall, Logan Goulding and Dalen Yamauchi.

Several Vulcans improved their scores from their first round. Franko improved by two strokes, Andrew Otani by nine, and Noah Lau by five. 

The order of finish for UHH was Ng in first (72-70), Franko in fourth (76-74), Otani in fifth (80-71), Lau in eighth (79-74), and Nicholas Gomez in 16th (81-83).

Next up for the Vulcans is their fall home tournament, the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate which will take place at the Waikoloa Beach Resort from Oct. 25-27.
