HONOLULU, O'ahu-- The wait for UH Hilo was finally over and the Vulcans were able to compete once again.
UHH's first meet of the 2021 season was at the Big Wave Invitational along with fellow PacWest Conference members Hawai'i Pacific and Chaminade. UH Hilo placed fourth among the five teams who attended with Hawai'i Pacific placing third and Chaminade placing fifth.
After a month of training and waiting for the opportunity to compete again, UH Hilo got their rematch but was met with a similar team outcome. Hawai'i Pacific totalled 21 team points to take the win followed by UH Hilo (41), and Chaminade (74).
The Vulcans had two top five finishers.
Olivia Jarvis led the Vulcans in third place (25:50.4), just six seconds from beating HPU's second place finisher.
Emma Heidelmeier was the second Vulcan, finishing fifth with a time of 26:45.1.
The order of finish for the rest of the Vulcans was

Seventh,
Mari Monico-
12th,
Lily Gavagan-
14th, and
Aurea Streadbeck-
19th.
The Vulcans next race will be the Chaminade Invitational where they will take both teams on once again.
The Chaminade Invitational is set for Oct. 9 at 7 a.m. HST.
