SANTA ROSA, Calif.-- The Vulcans shaved scores off of their scorecards on the final day of the Sonoma State Invitational.Â
Â
Almost every UH Hilo player recorded less strokes in Tuesday's play versus Monday's, resulting in a reduced team final score of 344. It wasn't the end result that the Vulcans were hoping for, but they made improvement nonetheless. Â
Â
There were a total of 14 teams competing. The top two team scores were just one stroke apart. Host Sonoma State was the team winner with a combined +44 (310-310), Cal State San Marcos came in second +45 (306-315), and in third was Menlo +55 (308-323). UH Hilo rounded out the group, finishing in 14th (346-344).
Â
The top individual Vulcan scorer was
Tia Kualii +23 (84-83) followed by
Kiri Oshiro +27 (82-89),
Kailey Oki (90-84),
Kaelyn Uchida (90-88), and
Tori Hironaga (92-90).
Â
Academy of Art's Anahi Servin was the Sonoma State Invitational champion. Servin (AAU) shot an impressive 1-under on the first day and carded a 76 in Tuesday's play, securing the first-place spot. Close behind her was Menlo's Dasa Urbankova, who trailed the defending PacWest Champion (Servin) by one stroke.Â
