IRVINE, Calif.--UH Hilo senior soccer forward
Luca Lippert has been named to the All-Pacific West Conference Second Team, announced today by the league office.
Lippert led the Vulcans with five goals scored and ten total points. He led his squad in shots (28) and shots on goal (13). He scored twice in a 2-1 win over Academy of Art, and also tallied a score in an overtime loss to then-No. 16 nationally ranked Seattle Pacific.
The Langen, Germany native, who transferred from Northern Michigan a year ago, also earned All-PacWest Hawaii Pod honors last spring. Additionally, he was named to the PacWest Scholar Athlete team with a 3.67 grade point average in his major of Business Administration.
Lippert was a key cog for a Vulcan squad that showed vast improvement in 2021 with a 6-7-1 overall record and a 4-5-1 mark in the PacWest. The victories were the most for a UHH men's soccer team since the 2014 club went 7-9-2.
NCAA Tournament-bound Biola captured three of the six PacWest special awards. Biola's Izaac Zausch was Defender of the Year, Theo Le Calve was Newcomer of the Year and Adam Jones was tabbed by the league's coaches as Freshman of the Year. Point Loma's Parker Scalzo is the Player of the Year, Hawaii Pacific's Jeremy Zielinski is the Goalkeeper of the Year and the Coach of the Year is Azusa Pacific's David Blomquist.
