KOHALA COAST, Hawai`i--Beating a good team twice is very difficult, and taking down the No. 5 team in the country twice on the same day is another level stuff.

The Hawai`i Pacific Sharks bounced back with a vengeance after losing to the Vulcans earlier in the day (4-3), defeating Hawai`i Hilo 4-0 in the women's tennis nightcap at the Fairmont Orchid Resort Tennis Center. HPU took the doubles point and then captured victory on courts 1-2-3 in the clinch format.  

Hawai`i Pacific is now 1-1 on the season, while the Vulcans are 3-1. 

The Vulcans and Sharks played nearly five hours of tennis earlier in the day, and the Vulcans didn't have a lot left in the tank after their 4-3 upset win. 

In singles, Marlene Tilgner, Elodie Busson and Valentina Mokrova were the first victors on courts 1-2-3 respectively. For Mokrova, it was payback as she lost a marathon earlier in the clinching match, falling to UHH's Carolina Alfonsin. At dusk today, she won, 6-3, 6-2.

The Vulcans will not get a few weeks off from competition, awaiting approval for a trip to California in early March.
