HONOLULU, Hawai`i--For the second day in a row, the Hawai`i Hilo women's soccer team didn't win, but they didn't lose either.
After tying Chaminade on Saturday (2-2), the Vulcans had a similar deadlocked result on Sunday against Hawai`i Pacific, this time by a 0-0 final. By spring soccer rule in the Pacific West Conference, no overtime was played.
UH Hilo leaves Oahu with an 0-0-2 mark, while the Sharks are now 0-1-1. The Vulcans are slated to play both Hawai`i Pacific and Chaminade again this spring, at sites and dates yet to be determined.
The Vulcans had the Sharks on their heals all day, firing 14 shots including five on goal (HPU had three shots, one on goal). But they couldn't find the net on this sometimes rainy and windy day at St. Louis Field.
The Vulcans were firing right up until the end, with a
Jodi Lillier shot heading towards the net with just under two minutes to play, but the high and center shot was saved by HPU goalkeeper Madi DePhillips, one of four that she had on the day.
