SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--The UH Hilo women's tennis team's road adventure to northern California got off to a good start on Monday with a 5-1 win over Dominican at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center.

The Vulcans, who hadn't played a match in over a month, improved to 4-1 on the season. Dominican fell to 1-7.

UH Hilo swept the doubles competition and then took four of five singles matches with one match left uncompleted. Hikari Osaki, Carolina Alfonsin, Carmelle Joyner and Hannah Highsmith were all double winners for the Vulcans, triumphing on both the singles and doubles courts.

All four of UH HIlo's singles wins were in straight sets. Anouk van Hoek was up 6-3, 5-5 when her match was called due to rain.

The Vulcans will get right back on the courts tomorrow (Tuesday), taking on Academy of Art. The match will take place at 10 a.m. Pacific time at the Bay Club of San Francisco in Daly City. They will also play at Fresno Pacific on Friday (March 19) before returning to Hilo.
