Vulcan Doubles Team Earns PacWest Honor

The UH HIlo doubles tandem of Hannah Highsmith and Carolina Alfonsin was named to the All-Pacific West Conference Third Team, announced this afternoon by the conference office.

Alfonsin, a sophomore, and Highsmith, a junior, are both transfers from Sonoma State. They are 6-6 on the season playing on court one heading into Thursday's match with Colorado Mesa. Alfonsin hails from Monterrey, Mexico and Highsmith is a native of Folsom, Calif.

They were the only Vulcans named to either the all-doubles or all-singles team.

The PacWest Player of the Year is Petra Ivankovic of Azusa Pacific. The Newcomer of the Year (voted on by the conference coaches) is Camila Tumosa of Concordia and the Freshman of the Year is Broklyn Ross of Metro State-Denver. The Coach of the Year is Jonathan Sanchez of Concordia.
