DUPONT, Washington – The men's golf team rounded out their last day of the Saint Martin's Invitational at The Home Course.
The Vulcans started the morning off in sixth, moving their way up as high as third, and then falling back, finishing the invitational in ninth place of twelve teams. The Vulcans individual leader was Keith Ng. The recent HPU Sharks Shootout Champion finished the event in 15th place out of the 68. Ng's final score was 76-66-76, totaling 218. Ng had the fourth most birdies and was second in par 5 scoring.
Dustin Franko had the second highest Vulcans finish of 76-77-74, followed by teammates Andrew Otani, Nicholas Gomez, and Noah Lau.
Western Washington claimed the championship team title. WWU had a team score of 850 and were 14 under par. Simon Fraser was the second best with a team score of 862, two under par. There were two individual co-championships of the Saint Martin's Invitational, Conrad Brown (Western Washington) and Keita Okada (Hawai'i Pacific). Okada (Hawai'i Pacific) also won the Medalist honor in a one-hole playoff.
The Vulcans have one more event scheduled in their roadtrip. They will have the chance to bounce back at the WWU Invitational (Sept. 27) at the Loomis Trail GC in Blaine, Wash. before heading home.
