IRVINE, California – The three Hawai'i teams closed out the 2022 portion of the 2022-23 men's golf schedule with two tournaments on their own turf.
Hawai'i Hilo's Keith Ng finished October strong with sixth and fifth place finishes at the Southwest Airlines HPU Sharks Shootout and the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, respectively.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Keith Ng was five-under par for the week, which included a scorching round of 66 on the second day of the HPU Sharks Shootout. The 2022 First-Team All-PacWest selection tied for sixth on O'ahu (72-66) at -4, five shots behind the winners Chris Ebster (Stanislaus State) and Tyler Ashman (Chico State). Ng's 66 was the second lowest round of the tournament.
At Hawai'i Hilo's Rose tournament, the Canadian tied for fifth place at -1 (68–71) in the 36-hole event that was won by Nathan Jetton of Stanislaus State at -5.
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES
At the Sharks Shootout, Hawai'i Hilo was 11th, HPU was 14th and Chaminade was 16th. Shion Suzuki of Hawaii Pacific was the second PacWest golfer in a talented field in tenth place (69–70). Chaminade's Zachary DuBourdieu tied for 23rd at 72–71 (-1). Chico State and Stanislaus State tied for the top spot in the tournament at -18.
At the Dennis Rose, Cal State San Marcos and Colorado-Colorado Springs won the tournament at +5. Hilo was 10th, the Sharks 14th and Chaminade was 16th. After Ng, Dustin Franko was the next PacWest golfer at +3 (69–74), followed by Kelii Dudoit (HPU) 70–74.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Fall season is a wrap for the PacWest schools. Action continues again in February, with the culmination in April (17-19) at the Pacific West Conference Championships at the Wigwam GC in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
