LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz.--The 2022 season and the Pacific West Conference Championships are officially in the books for the UH Hilo women's golf team.
The Vulcans finished sixth in the tournament with scores of 317-325-333. At +111, they finished four shots ahead of island rival Hawaii Pacific (+115).
UHH's
Kaelyn Uchida tied for ninth overall with a tally of 77-76-81 (+18). Today, the Vulcan junior had nine pars on the day and had a birdie on the front nine, but bogeyed or double bogeyed three out of the last four holes to finish with an 81.
Other Vulcan scores today included
Tia Kualii with an 83,
Kailey Oki at 84 and
Tori Hironaga at 85.
In the medalist chase, a fourth consecutive PacWest title was not in the cards for Academy of Art's Anahi Servin. Winner of three straight crowns, a PacWest record, Servin claimed second place (75-74-73) at six-over par, one shot behind title winner Claire Shubin of Dominican (74-74-73). With Servin already in the clubhouse and finished, it got interesting over the final three holes when Shubin bogeyed each one of them but held on to win by a stroke.Â
The team title would also come down to the final few holes, where Biola and Dominican were battling it out. The Eagles won out with the low score of the day (309), edging second day leader Dominican by three strokes overall. Biola finished at +64 while the Penguins checked in at +67. Holy Names was third (+78).
The Eagles earned the automatic berth into the NCAA West Region tournament, May 2-4 in Stockton, Calif.
