SURPRISE, Ariz.--The UH Hilo women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 4 Hawai'i Pacific at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club. 

The Sharks were the number one seed entering the PacWest Championships only having lost one conference match this season to Biola.

The Vulcans lost a close 4-3 matchup against their inner-island rival in the beginning of the season and were supposed to play them again in Hilo but the match was rained out.

The Sharks had a bye in the first round and shined in their PacWest Championship debut. 

HPU secured the doubles point on the first and second courts 6-1, 6-2. The third court was left unfinished with Hikari Osaki and Akari Ichikawa leading 4-3.

The singles were done 50 minutes later courtesy of Shark wins on courts 1-3. PacWest Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year Shaline Pipa (HPU) won 6-0, 6-1, followed by HPU's Elodie Busson (6-0, 6-1) and Marleen Tilgner (6-0, 6-1).

The Vulcans will now head to the consolation round where they will take on Point Loma on Friday at 1 pm Pacific time. The Sea Lions, the No. 4 seed, were upset in the quarterfinals by No. 5 seed Fresno Pacific.
