SURPRISE, Ariz.--The UH Hilo women's tennis team fell to No. 39 Point Loma at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club on Friday afternoon in the consolation bracker of the Pacific West Conference Championships.

The Vulcans play again tomorrow Saturday, Apr. 23 at 10am HST against Cal State LA in the Seventh Place match to wrap up their 2022 season.

Point Loma took the doubles point courtesy of wins on courts one and three  and then went on to take three-straight wins in singles with victories on courts 1-3, securing the overall match 4-0.

Courts four, five and six were all in progress when the match was clinched. Hikari Osaki had split sets and was up 2-1 in the third set on court four. Nanami Okamoto had won her first set on court five in a tiebreaker and was up 3-1 in the second set. On court six, Hannah Highsmith had lost the first set but was up 5-4 in the second when the Sea Lions clinched the team bout.

The Vulcans are now 6-10 on the season while Point Loma improved to 17-8.
