HILO, Hawai'i – After previously receiving zero votes, the Hawai'i Hilo women's soccer team made its debut on Tuesday's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Week 2 Poll with a No. 17 ranking.
The Vulcans are off to a 4-0-0 start in 2022 with regional road wins over Cal State East Bay (4-1 score), San Francisco State (3-1) and Stanislaus State (1-0) of the California Collegiate Athletic Association and Regis (3-0) of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
UH Hilo previously received votes in the west region top 10 with a No. 7 rank but had not earned any points in neither the preseason nor the week 1 top 25 polls. In this week's west region rankings, the Vulcans shot up to No. 2 right behind Pacific West Conference-mate Point Loma Nazarene (3-0-1). The Sea Lions are No. 7 in the top 25.
Dallas Baptist University (4-0-0) was voted at the top spot in Division II.
Other PacWest schools in the west region rankings are Azusa Pacific (No. 5) and Concordia Irvine (No. 6).
The Vulcans will be in action this Saturday against Hawai'i Pacific at home in a non-conference tilt.
