Arakawa Doubles Up With Scholar All-American Honors

Teani Arakawa added 2023 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American First Team to her list of honors.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer junior forward Teani Arakawa doubled up on All-American status with the addition of 2023 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team honors as announced Friday morning.

Arakawa, a Business Administration – Finance major, was credited with a 3.76 cumulative grade point average.

Last week, she was announced as a United Soccer Coaches Division II Third Team All-American after already landing D2 CCA All-West Region Player of the Year, CCA All-West Region First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team, PacWest Conference Player of the Year and All-PacWest First Team accolades.

Arakawa finished 2023 with 27 points on 10 goals and seven assists to help the Vulcans to a 10-2-3 record while placing inside the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll throughout the season. On the national scale, the Maui native ranked among the best in Division II at No. 19 in points per game (1.80), No. 21 in goals per game (0.67), No. 29 in assists per game (0.47), No. 43 total points, No. 48 total assists and No. 49 in shot accuracy (.595).

The College of Saint Rose's Mia Klammer was named National Scholar Player of the Year, an honor that was awarded last season to former Vulcan Daelenn Tokunaga.

Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
