INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – After making it on last week's initial list of schools "under consideration," the Hawai'i Hilo men's basketball team comes in at No. 8 in the latest NCAA Division II West Regional Rankings released earlier today.
These official regional rankings will help determine which schools earn the final spots for the eight-team NCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship West Region Tournament. The three postseason tournament champions from the Pacific West Conference, California Collegiate Athletic Association and Great Northwest Athletic Conference will each earn one of the eight spots, leaving five berths open to be claimed in order by the regional ranks.
Point Loma Nazarene came in at the top spot joined by fellow PacWest Conference members Azusa Pacific at No. 4, Academy of Art at No. 6 and Biola at No. 10.
The Vulcans will conclude the regular season on the road this Thursday against unbeaten PLNU before the PacWest Championships set for March 2-4 on O'ahu at Chaminade University of Honolulu.
