LANGLEY, Canada – Julio Montes II posted 18 points off the bench as Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball raced past Western oregon, 89-69, Saturday afternoon as part of the CCA Canadian Tip-Off Classic at the Langley Events Centre.
Hawai'i Hilo started fast to outscore the Wolves, 14-2, through the opening minutes of the game — three of the five field goals came from beyond the arc. The Vulcans also closed the half on a 12-1 run to take a 20-point lead into the break. Hawai'i Hilo splashed 13 3-pointers (54.2 percent), four from Montes II and three each by Jarin Edwards (15 points) and John Davis III (11 points).
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 2-0 (0-0 PacWest) while Western Oregon moved to an 0-2 record (0-0 GNAC).
