O'AHU, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Hilo Women's Tennis team concluded its weekend slate of matches on O'ahu with another close 4-3 victory over Dominican at the Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park before narrowly falling to No. 16 HPU at the Kailua Racquet Club.

This time against the Penguins, the Vulcans got on the scoreboard first by taking the doubles point with wins on Court 1 and Court 3 both by 6-2 scores. Hana Hofmanova once again clinched the match as Hawai'i Hilo held a 3-1 advantage before the freshman sealed up the victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win on Court 6.

Hawai'i Hilo opened the season against Dominican a little over a week ago, having also claimed a 4-3 victory.

No. 16 HPU quickly took the win at 4-0, but the Vulcans continued to fight until the end with close singles wins on Courts 3, 5 and 6.

Both Satoho Toriumi (Court 3) and Hikari Osaki (Court 5) were forced to go to a Set 3 to claim their wins. Osaki is now 5-1 in singles matches this season while Hofmanova (Court 6) is at 4-0.

Hawai'i Hilo moved to 5-2 overall while Dominican went to 4-2 and No. 16 HPU moved to a 2-3 record.

The Vulcans will have a week and a half off to recover and prepare for the annual spring break gauntlet of six matches in seven days, taking on Biola (March 18), Colorado Mesa (March 19), Azusa Pacific (March 20), Concordia University Irvine (March 22), Westmont (March 23) and Point Loma (March 25).

Hawai'i Hilo will then conclude the regular season at home with two matches against Chamainde on March 31 and matches against HPU March 6-7 at the UHH Tennis Courts.
