HILO, Hawai'i – In the penultimate match of the regular season, Hawai'i Hilo Women's Tennis was taken down by No. 45 HPU, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the UHH Tennis Courts.
HPU managed to take the doubles points with 6-2 wins on Courts 1 and 2 before taking singles matches on Courts 1-3 to claim the match victory.
Hikari Osaki (Court 4) and Hana Hofmanova (Court 6) continued to improve their singles records moving to 10-3 and 7-2, respectively, on the season.
It was the second meeting between the two teams this season as the Sharks managed to claim a narrow one-point win a month ago on O'ahu.

UP NEXT
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 9-7 overall while HPU moved to an 8-7 record. The two teams are scheduled to play again Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
The Vulcans will also be celebrating seniors Hikari Osaki, Nanami Okamoto, McKenna Mountain, Julia Barden and Satoho Toriumi.
Pacific West Conference Championship is set for April 17-20 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Arizona.
PACWEST HAWAI'I CHALLENGE
In an effort to elevate Hawai'i-based rivalries, the PacWest Hawai'i Challenge has awarded the top school in athletics competition among the state's Division II institutions going back to the late 1970s.
Comprising 10 sports that all three schools participate in, points are awarded from head-to-head Pacific West Conference matchups as well as final placements at conference-ending championship events. The team with the highest total gets three points while the second highest gets two and the third-place finisher receives one.
For women's tennis, scores will be awarded according to teams' respective placements at the PacWest Championship. Chaminade did not qualify for the postseason event so they have aleady received a score of 1.
