LAS CRUCES, New Mexico – The back-to-back Pacific West Conference Champions are making back-to-back trips to the NCAA Regional Round as Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf is ready to begin NCAA South Central/West Regional competition, May 9-11, at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
The Vulcans lineup boasts Ben Crinella, Jacob Torres, Dysen Park, Dylan Bercan and 2024 PacWest Conference Individual Champion Nicholas Gomez as they tee off on the 7,242-yard par-71 course Thursday morning starting at 8:20 a.m. local Mountain Time (4:20 a.m. Hawai'i Time).
Hawai'i Hilo has had three weeks off since claiming the PacWest Conference Championship in mid April back on the west side of the Big Island with a plus-34 total on the Mauna Lani Golf North Course.
This week's regional competition features teams and individuals from the PacWest Conference, Great Northwest Athletic Conference, California Collegiate Athletic Association, Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The other conference champions include Western Washington (GNAC), Cal State Monterey Bay (CCAA), Dallas Baptist (LSC) and Colorado Christian (RMAC).
The top five teams and top two student-athletes (not with a team) will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf National Championships, May 21-25, at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Florida.
Hawai'i Hilo placed No. 19 (+37) at last year's regional competition at the Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park, California.
