Men's Soccer Drops to Roadrunners to Close Colorado Trip

DENVER, Colorado – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer fell to Metro State Denver, 1-0, in non-conference play Monday evening at The Assembly Athletic Complex.

With the sun setting behind the Denver skyline, the Roadrunners managed to net the lone score of the game shortly after halftime. MSU Denver was able to reverse the Vulcans attack with a connecting through ball down field as Ismael Reyes snuck a shot inside the right post for the goal in the 50th minute.

Hawai'i Hilo had a number of scoring opportunities down the stretch of the contest but just wasn't able to land one through the posts. Vulcans had one final opportunity with the clock winding down on a throw-in from the right side of the MSU Denver goal, but the header attempt went high over the crossbar.

Vulcans goalkeeper Tim Teicher made four saves in the loss.

Monday's match concluded a three-game trip through Colorado – the first ever for the Vulcans program – as well as the non-conference slate of the schedule. Hawai'i Hilo will return home to the Big Island and collect their travel miles as they gear up for a four-game swing through Southern California starting next week (Sept. 26-Oct. 3) to open Pacific West Conference play.
