The DII field includes 7th-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay and host University of Hawaii at Hilo. The final member of the tournament is Osaka Gakuin University of Japan.

Many of these teams are not new to the tournament as many are looking to add to their hardware collection from the Big Island with Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech winning five each, UCLA and Texas two, and USC, Stanford and Arizona one each.

The medalist race will also be very competitive as Stanford's Patrick Rodgers and Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans are ranked second in the world amateur and NCAA golf stat rankings, respectively. Over the years, Georgia Tech has also garnered six medalist honors followed by Oklahoma State with four.

A practice round will be held on Wednesday February 5 followed by 18-hole play on each of the next three days. Each round begins with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun.

Following Saturday's round an awards ceremony will follow the posting of final scores in the Kings' Course breezeway.
