INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Hawai`i Hilo senior golf standout
Jared Kinoshita has been selected to participate in the NCAA West Regional Tournament, to be held May 9-11 in St. George, Utah.
Kinoshita is one of four individuals in the field, joined by the top ten teams in the region. The west region is made up of teams and players from the Pacific West Conference, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The West Regional (and South Central Regional) will be held at The Ledges Golf Club in St. George, hosted by Dixie State University. Players and teams will be playing for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA finals, May 20-24 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.
Kinoshita is the top ranked golfer playing as an individual in St. George. He is currently ranked 47th in the NCAA and has a stroke average of 72.37. Earlier this year, he won the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Waikola, shooting a school-record 11-under-par for the three rounds. That included a 65 on the first day.Â
The Bakersfield, Calif. native and four-year Vulcan finished seventh at the Pacific West Conference Championships.Â
