WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – Host UH Hilo recorded the third lowest team score of the day and moved up one slot to eighth place on the second day of their own Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Beach Course.

The Vulcans turned in a +4 team score of 284 after filing a 302 on Monday. One more round is slated for Wednesday at the Par 70 course on the west side of Hawai`i's Big Island.

UH Hilo's 18-stroke improvement was the biggest jump of any of the 12 teams in the tournament. Colorado Christian also made a huge leap, shaving 13 shots off their Monday score to move into first place with one round to go. The Cougars were 12 shots better than anyone else on Tuesday, carding a team score of 269 to take a 13-shot lead on the rest of the field. CCU sits at -11, with Cal State San Bernardino next at +1, followed by Western New Mexico and Hawaii Pacific at +5.

Dustin Franko had UH Hilo's best round of the day with a two-under par 68. He is tied for 21st place at +4 (76-68). Keith Ng is tied for 16th (71-72), with Junghwan Lee (76-71) next, followed by Andrew Otani (77-72), Noah Lau (79-72) and Nicholas Gomez (78-75).

Colorado Christian's rapid rise was fueled by new tournament leader Cam Sandland, who shot a 9-under par 61. Coupled with his 72 on Monday, he is the medalist leader at -7. Right behind Sandland is Cal State San Bernardino's Brian Nielsen (-6) and Western New Mexico's Joey Geary (-3).

The 12 teams will tee off on Wednesday at 7:30 am Hawaii time.
