BLAINE, Washington – The men's golf team took to the green to compete in the final stop of their Washington road trip. The first day of the WWU Invitational consisted of 18 holes in chilly conditions.
The Vulcans ended the day tied for fourth with Chico State. The top three teams are currently HPU- first place, Simon Fraser- second place, and Montana State Billings- third place.
Keith Ng was the Vulcans leader of the day, just one stroke behind the invitational's leader, HPU's Keita Okada. Ng and Okada have been going back and forth at the past three competitions, battling to take the higher ranking. At the HPU Sharks Shootout, Ng snuck ahead of Okada to claim the championship title and then Okada returned the favor at the Saint Martin's Invitational, placing above Ng and winning Medalist honors.
UH Hilo's individual's placement in today's play is Ng (-2) in second place, Andrew Otani and Dustin Franko (+4) tied for 11th, and Noah Lau and Nicholas Gomez (+11) tied for 48th place.
The Vulcans will complete in the final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
