HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer hopped over to O'ahu and notched a 4-0 victory over Chaminade in non-conference play Saturday afternoon at the Saint Louis School Field.
Shudai Ito netted the Vulcans' opening score on a direct kick just three minutes into the match. Ito also helped close the scoring on a corner-kick assist to Iago Perez Ferriero for the header in the 83rd minute.
Freshman Kalen Toguchi netted his first collegiate goal in his second game of action, connecting from Ronan McFarland (second assist of the season) in the 48th minute.
Nolan Richards was also making his second appearance of the season, getting an unofficial assist on a cross-in from the right side that was errantly batted through the back of the net by a Silverswords defender for the own goal (80').
Senior Adam Frank once again got the start (seventh of career) and recorded two saves for his third career shutout.
OTHER NOTES
- Konner Jacang made his first career start. The redshirt-junior returned to in-game action on Thursday against HPU, logging his first appearance since the 2022 season opener.
- Perez Ferreiro leads the team with five goals on the season — ranking tied at No. 9 overall among all PacWest Conference scorers.
- Hawai'i Hilo now sits at a tie for No. 4 in the PacWest Conference standings with 10 points — tied with Azusa Pacific (3-1-1). Point Loma (4-0-0), Vanguard (4-1-0) and Concordia (4-2-0) lay ahead with 12 points each.
- Hawai'i Hilo: 6-4-2 Overall (3-2-1 PacWest)
- Chaminade: 0-7-1 Overall (0-4-1 PacWest)
- The two teams will meet again Nov. 6 in Hilo for their conference-countable matchup.
- Hawai'i Hilo has outscored Chaminade by a combined total of 15-0 through the last five matchups going back to the 2023 season.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 2 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, tying with defending tournament champ Westmont in the second spot. The Vulcans finished the 2024 regular season at No. 5 in the conference standings and was one of four teams to qualify for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament, falling to the Warriors in double overtime of the semifinal round. The 2025 PacWest Championships will be hosted by Westmont on Nov. 13-15 in Santa Barbara.
