Over the course of the next month+, we will take a look back at the top games of 2019-20--hereafter referred to as
20 for 2020. The top 20 was selected by an esteemed panel of experts, so don't @me if you disagree. :)
Coming in at No. 18 is the Vulcan women's tennis team. On March 11 on Oahu, in what would turn out to be their last match of the season, the Vulcans pulled off a convincing 5-2 win over Dominican. That victory would have played a role in the Vulcans' quest for qualification into the Pacific West Conference Tournament in April, which of course ultimately didn't happen because of COVID-19. But on this day, UH Hilo's hopes were high. After a rough start to the season, they had begun to make progress on this Oahu trip by playing No. 8 nationally ranked Hawai`i Pacific tough (5-2) and by defeating Chaminade (6-1). The Vulcans improved to 3-5 on the season with the win, while the Penguins fell to 5-3.
