No. 8--Vulcans Finally Take Down Silverswords

Over the course of the next month+, we will take a look back at the top games of 2019-20--hereafter referred to as 20 for 2020. The top 20 was selected by an esteemed panel of experts, so don't @me if you disagree. :)

Checking in at No. 8 was a big volleyball win for the Vulcans in Honolulu against nemesis Chaminade. The Silverswords had won seven straight matches against UH Hilo, including one earlier in the season on the Vulcans' own court. But on November 3, in a must-win match against the first-place Siverswords at McCabe Gymnasium, the Vulcans went five grueling sets with their rival and held on for the win. The match took two hours and 30 minutes, and came less than 24 hours after the Vulcans had gone five sets the previous night with Hawaii Pacific. For the Vulcans' senior class, it was their first victory over the Silverswords. It also kept the Vulcans in the hunt for the Pacific West Conference title, as the top four teams in the league were now all within a game of each other at the top of the heap.
