Our countdown of the top UH Hilo games of 2019-20 takes us today to No. 7 when the Vulcan softball team knocked off No. 1 nationally ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville.

On February 15, the UH Hilo softball team was sitting on a 3-6 record heading into a tournament game in Tucson, Arizona against the Javelinas. The Vulcans had been slow out of the gate, going 1-4 in their season-opening tournament in Utah, and had now split games in Arizona. But on this day, they showed the potential that everyone else saw in them when they were picked to finish second in the Pacific West Conference. They pounded the team that was ranked No. 1 in the latest NCAA Division II poll to a 9-1 mercy-rule verdict, helping to jump start them toward better days ahead.
